The awkwardly-titled 'DSDCIMYC' kicks off with a trebly guitar line and Turner's most psychedelic/Britpoppy vocals (think Richard Ashcroft) to date before it all gets oh-so-heavy. Producer James Ford sounds like he's been taking notes from Steve Albini and the Pixies as the band contrast grungy distorted riffery and a chorus that sounds bigger every time you hear it. It's impossible to reconcile the 2011 Arctic Monkeys with the alternate future of diminishing returns threatened by the second-rate 'Leave Before the Lights Come On' way back when. Like Turner's side-projects, this is another bit of evidence for the band's admirable refusal to do the same old thing to keep people happy. Whatever you think they are, it seems, they are not.
