"If we don't kill ourselves, we'll be the leaders of a messed up generation," Example preaches on the opening of his latest chart-botherer. It's a bold statement, particularly from someone who once claimed that drugs make music better and has used them as inspiration for his new album. Then again, with a number one single now tucked firmly under his belt, perhaps he's decided to change his hedonistic ways?
We were inclined to believe him until the song's 50-second mark, at which point he drops a club-thumping beat and squelchy basslines that would strongly suggest otherwise. "Did we take it too far?/ Did we chase the rabbit into wonderland?" he ponders, sounding as though he's having flashbacks of what went on the night before. The result is the perfect pick-me-up for those on a post-festival comedown... and a harsh lesson for those who aren't.
