Amy Winehouse: 'Our Day Will Come' - Single review

Before her tragic death earlier this year, the anticipation for a new Amy Winehouse album was almost too exciting to bear. As such, we'll admit we were a little disappointed when it was announced that the first release from her posthumous album was a) a cover, and b) recorded when she was a teenager; especially when there are a dozen unreleased songs supposedly locked away at her label's headquarters.

That said, the thinking behind the decision to release Winehouse's rendition of Ruby and the Romantics' 1963 hit 'Our Day Will Come' quickly becomes apparent. Over a smoky melody and reggae-tinged beat she promises wistfully, "Our day will come, and we'll have everything," before professing her everlasting love for her beau. The result serves as a timely reminder that beneath the demons that plagued her final years, her raw talent was undeniable.
