Pnau: 'Unite Us' - Single review

You may not have heard of Pnau before, but believe it or not, collaborators Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes have been working under the moniker for almost 13 years. Littlemore is better known for his side band Empire Of The Sun; a project that has since significantly raised his profile in the UK. However, after a recent team-up with Elton John(!) and securing themselves a British record deal, has the time finally come for Pnau to transcend the underground indie-pop scene to become a fully-fledged chart success story?

The duo's latest cut 'Unite Us' could well be the track that helps them achieve this. "You'll write the reason to go on, I'll turn your lullaby into song," Littlemore soars over a mix of pulse-racing beats and bouncy piano as he laments over a reunion with his long distance lover. The '80s-inspired synths may have been done to death already, but it's Pnau's heavier instrumental and crowd-rousing chants that gives them the potential to hook in both pop lovers and rock loyalists.
