Madonna
That was some Super Bowl performance, wasn't it? We'll admit that we were preparing for disappointment after the absurd level of hype - which included promises of a "spectacular" display, a cameo from LMFAO, the obligatory Elton swipe, reports of a leg injury and a brief mental breakdown - but in the end, Madonna, as if there was any doubt, pulled it out the bag. Even her new single didn't feel overly shoe-horned into the setlist.

Everything about the song - from the Nicki Minaj and MIA-assisted cheerleader chants to the Desperate Housewives-meets-soccer-themed music video - seems to have been aimed squarely at the one-off gig, but given it's one of the most-watched on the planet, who could blame her? The track itself has, unfortunately, changed very little from the demo that leaked last November; with peppy production and an earworm of a chorus courtesy of electropop whizz Martin Solveig. The result is by no means up there with her best, but then again, this is Madonna we're talking about.
