will.i.am ft. Jennifer Lopez, Mick Jagger: 'T.H.E' - Single review

As far as collaborations go, this one really takes the cake. Perhaps will.i.am thought this would be the collaboration to end all collaborations; and by making the bizarre decision to team up with Jennifer Lopez and rock legend Mick Jagger, he'd be creating a clever piece of commentary on the state of the music industry. The lesson being that guest stars should be reserved only for special occasions, when they can genuinely add something special to a song.

Or maybe he has some sort fascination with Frankensteinia, like those people who sew octopus legs on the heads of stuffed dogs and pass it off as modern art. Listening to 'T.H.E', it would appear that will.i.am is closer to the latter. "I'm-a work hard, that's my thesis/ This beat is the s**t, feaces," he spews over spacey synths and squelchy electro beats, before J Lo offers up a barely-there chorus. By the time the Jagger finale kicks in, the song reaches Human Centipede-like levels of peculiarity.
