For want of a better word, Amelia Lily's "journey" on The X Factor - which saw her booted out in week one only to return and eventually finish third - was easily one of our favourite things to happen in the show's history. She was billed on the series as the UK's answer to pop-rockers Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and Pink, but will her first solo outing live up to such lofty expectations?
Thankfully, Lily opts for an altogether fresher sound on 'You Bring Me Joy', which is helmed by Brian Higgins of Girls Aloud pop factory Xenomania. "I'm not looking back when I've only just begun," she growls over a propelling dance-rock riff, before calling out her contrary lover on a soaring yet wistful chorus. Like a PB&J sandwich the result won't initially be to everyone's taste, but it doesn't take long for addiction to set in.
