Charli XCX: 'You're The One'
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Charli XCX insisted that she isn't embarrassed by her influences, which range from everything between golden age hip-hop to the latest Disney tweenage stars. Funnily enough, they're both sounds that can be heard on her latest track, and the results are as intriguing as you'd expect.

"Fly me through the black night/ You're the angel in the moonlight," Charli sings over crunchy, mechanical beats and blaring sirens that play up to her self-touted "goth-pop" tag. "You're the one who's been stealing stars/ Your broken arrow went through my heart," she confesses on the chorus, offsetting the bonkers verses with a warm and gooey vocal that wouldn't sound odd coming from the lips of Miley or Selena. The result is odd on paper, brilliant in reality.
