Rebecca Ferguson 'Backtrack' single artwork.
Unlike most X Factor alumni, Rebecca Ferguson is shedding her reality show skin quicker than it takes Tulisa to change the colour of her barnet. Equally, her debut album Heaven managed the rare feat of gaining critical acclaim as well as shifting big numbers; so who can blame her for wanting to prolong it all by re-releasing the LP with a few extra tracks?

But as her latest and brand new effort demonstrates, she's anything but resting on her laurels. "You backtrack and change your act at a hundred lies a minute" she tells her bad boy beau over a punchy piano riff and Motown-esque melody, before a flurry of finger-snapping "oohs" ensues. The result is a neat and sassy soul-pop ditty that, with the album charts already covered, deserves to be a success in its own right.
