Regina Spektor has been threatening to break into the mainstream for a while. She's kooky, she hangs out with The Strokes, and she's got a gift for simple, transcendent melodies.

Now, teamed with heavyweight producer David Kahne (Paul McCartney, the Bangles, Kelly Clarkson), she's made her most accessible single to date. 'Fidelity' constructs a minimal rhythm track from a plucked string sample, which gives Spektor plenty of space to show off her idiosyncratic vocal techniques: the way she sings "ha-ha-ha-ha-heart" is almost as ear-snagging as hearing your mum use a dirty word for the first time.

On 'Fidelity' Regina Spektor manages to appeal to a wider audience without sacrificing any of the quirkiness that has won over her fanbase. Expect to hear it on an episode of The O.C. very, very soon.
