Don't you just wish that Lily Allen would keep her mouth shut? She's got everything it takes to be a great pop star: charming songs, a cheeky, likeable personality and a knack for writing memorable lyrics, but her appeal is hamstrung by those constant attacks on her fellow popstrels. Lily, love, there's a fine line between being outspoken and becoming a bore.

Both 'Shame For You' and 'Alfie', the tunes that make up the double A-side fourth single from her Alright, Still album, show just how talented she is. The former's ska stomp houses a killer line - "Boy you must be jokin' me if you think that you'll be pokin' me" - and the latter, co-written with man of the moment Greg Kurstin (Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Pink, err, All Saints), is a carnival of a song. Who else would choose to update 'Puppet On A String' with lyrics about her brother's fondness for, ahem, herbal cigarettes?
