One of our favourite success stories of 2012 is Paloma Faith. Rather than enduring the traditional struggle through That Difficult Second Album, she continued to blossom on the brilliant Fall to Grace, which is now one of the top ten best-sellers of 2012. Better yet, she's done it without comprising her sound or quirky image.
It's perhaps best displayed on the LP's fourth cut 'Just Be', which strips back the usual grandiose production and allows her rich and velvety voice to come to the fore. "I wear you out with frustration and heartache and anger," she admits over little more than a piano, displaying the warts-and-all side of monogamy. The result is soul-pop perfection that, if we had it our way, would be topping the charts this Christmas.
