50 Cent's career has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few years. For most artists, delayed albums, record label feuds and a string of underperforming songs would spelled the end of their record deal; but Fiddy persevered and has his eyes set on the top once more. Question is, can his latest cut reinstate him as one of hip-pop's big players?
Rekindling his bromance with mentor Eminem and securing the distinctive tones of Maroon 5's Adam Levine is certainly a good start. "I'm doing what I'm supposed to/ I'm a writer, I'm a fighter, entrepreneur," 50 trills over hollering beats and eerie synths, before adding: "This is my recovery, my comeback in." There's no denying it's Fiddy's most chart-friendly effort in years, but given the level of talent involved, it falls considerably short of expectations.
