In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Devlin stated that he was steering clear of dance music in favour of more "epic" and "cinematic" sounds on his forthcoming album A Moving Picture. Given we were quite the fans of his angry 2010 debut Bud, Sweat and Beers, the prospect of him switching things up another gear is a very exciting one indeed.
That said, 'Rewind' isn't quite the sound we were hoping for. "I'm curious how many years a heart can ache/ Feel like a Minotaur meandering this darkened place," he raps, his usual vigour and slick wordsmithery still firmly intact. Frustrating then, that it's let down by a chorus that not only sounds suspiciously like Heart's 1987 power ballad 'Alone', but also by watery production that's irritatingly safe.
