They're on a hip label; their tunes have more hooks than Jay Kay's hat stand and their lead singer looks like a Benetton model, so why haven't The Academy Is become Fueled By Ramen superstars yet? It's certainly not for want of trying: the Chicago band has a touring schedule that makes the Rolling Stones seem a tad sluggish.

'We've Got A Big Mess On Our Hands', the first single from their current Santi LP, should be the song to break them. Its chorus is stadium-sized, its drum beat is almost primal and its guitars are as ferocious as an agitated alligator. Memo to Panic! At The Disco: watch your backs, lads.
