After building a rhythm track around the sound of a bouncing table tennis ball on his last single – the playfully addictive 'Do You Know (The Ping Pong Song)' – Enrique Iglesias has clearly acquired a taste for gimmicky pop innovation. The modestly-endowed Lothario's latest aim? To turn electro-Latin into a viable musical sub-genre.
'Tired of Being Sorry', the second single from Iglesias’ Insomniac album, is a winning combination of flamenco guitar arpeggios, sleek synth washes and an eighties drivetime radio chorus. The lyrics, meanwhile, indulge in some shameless hocus pocus nonsense. "We’re all bloodless and blind," Iglesias croons. "And longing for a life beyond the silver moon." Hmm. We wonder if Stevie Nicks has seen her lyrics pad lately?
