Only a cold-hearted killjoy could take a disliking to Journey South. A couple of blond-locked brothers who came third behind Shayne Ward and Andy, The Singing Binman on the second series of The X Factor, their debut album hit number one thanks to its earnest covers of karaoke night staples by the Eagles, U2 and and The Beatles. Carl and Andy Pemberton, meanwhile, stayed down-to-earth, affable and thoroughly decent.

'What I Love About Home' is the duo's first attempt to build a career outside their X Factor covers band image. All pounding piano chords, beefy drums and string-swathed choruses, it's rock that's softer than a tower of goose-feather pillows. The brothers threaten to overdo the chest-beating earnestness in its final stretch, but, to be fair, this does the stirring Bon Jovi ballad thing better than most recent Bon Jovi singles.
