Look up Wombats on Wikipedia and you'll be told they are Australian marsupials with short legs, muscular quadrupeds and that they are approximately one metre in length with a very short tail. That's wrong. Wombats are in fact the best new indie-pop young-uns since we all got a bit bored with the Kooks and Kaisers. Shockingly for a band from Liverpool, they sound nothing like a '60s trad-rock, psychedelia outfit, who've been listening to Sgt Pepper on repeat for ten years. Happily, instead they are making daft and addictive, killer pop tunes that should get many of you tearing some holes in the soles of your Converse down the local boogie parlour/nightspot/discotheque.

'Let's All Dance To Joy Division' begins with Franz Ferdinand's 'Take Me Out' riff with some added funk and jingle jangle thrown in for good measure. It then erupts into a classic Weezer-esque hook-laden rock song, dashing along at 100mph with a cheeky Scouse charm and humongous grin on its face. To top it off there's a tongue in cheek breakdown, featuring a children's choir and Scissor Sisters disco bleeps to wiggle your bum to, which both collide in the arm-flailing, clattering conclusion, which sounds it's being played upon The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Listen to this track - you won't have more fun all year.
