Well, unfortunately it looks like we're going to have to wait a tad longer for the catty "Cheryl was a slag" red-top headlines. 'Call The Shots' is the second release from their forthcoming Tangled Up record and it fits like a glove on their long list of mega-chart-hogging hits. 'Sound Of The Underground', 'No Good Advice', 'Biology', 'Something Kinda Ooh', and you can now add this to the list as well. Smooth, sleek and saucier than a whole supermarket aisle of Heinz Ketchup, the single's based around a tinny early '90s dance beat and the girls' echoing "oohs" and "ah ah ahs" that reverberate around an infectious chorus. It's more tasteful than some of the more lurid, poke-you-in-the-eyes pop glories of previous hits and is an enticing teaser for the new album.

Love this song, but I don't love the fact that you can't just call Nicola 'Nicola' and not 'the other one'? Its completely disrespectful considering she is one of the more talented girls in the band so... ermm I think it was pretty ignorant of you. Apart from that, very positive review for a positive song!!

An uplifting slice of powerpop which completely scthyes its way like a white van man through the mediotcrity and banal safeness of Ms Lewis , Take That etc etc. Look at the facial expression of Mr Cowell when the girls perform the song on XF - methiks a trifle twitchy !

This is up there with their very best songs. Nicola's middle eight is proof that she can outshine the others for miles when given the opportunity. The more ambiguous the song is, the more affecting it is. Trebienne.

I totally agree, and you must hand it to the girls for sticking around as long as they have, especially when you analyze how they were formed (where are the other reality tv stars?? Michelle McManus etc) 'Call the shots' is an excellent blend of pseudo-electric dance pop, which I am sure will be re-mixed into a club 'anthem', probably not as well produced as 2006's 'Biology'. Time will tell how long these girls can still churn out hits after hits, I suspect that 'call the shots' will be included in the 'definitive collection' in time to come p.s. The video is great
