What happens when the coolest man in rock, teams up with the fifth coolest. Well the answer is, you get a rather ace snarling punk-rock cover of The Ruts classic 'Starring At The Rude Boys' with some slappings of grime and hip-hop tossed in at the end. While it's rather annoyingly 'now' and even more frustratingly 'very NME', the mixture of Gallows' primal aggression and Bizzle's slick, lyrical patter is a tasty dish that chugs, thumps and bellows to its heart's content.
Carter's idiosyncratic, throat-shredding screams are accompanied by a more melodic tune that hardcore fans of the Hemel Hempstead punks will be comfortable with, but its cranium-smashing riffs are still in place to no doubt cause a tidal wave of pogo-ing and rugby scrum action at their live shows. Bizzle manages to steer away from a Dizzee Rascal in Band Aid-style blunder and keeps his presence as the side show to the blistering wallops of the band. Whether Gallows have the potential to match the tune's sales with any of their own, more uncompromising material remains to be seen. But right now, this tune's cool and Warner Bros should be pleased with their new signing.
