Britney Spears: 'Piece Of Me'
Britney Spears vs. Amy Winehouse is a battle we'd love to see. UK vs. USA. Diva vs Caner. K-Fed vs. Blake Fielder-Thingy. Bald-headed pop music loon vs. beehive-carrying indie nutcase. There's just one problem - if they ever did meet, they'd probably find they had an awful lot in common and go and get smashed down some East End boozer. 'Piece Of Me', the second single from Britney's Blackout album, is her 'Rehab': a two fingered-salute to the media hounds and an electo-thudding cry of defiance, warning us that this popstrel is not for turning.

Brit's opening gambit of "I'm Miss American Dream since I was 17 / Don’t matter if I step on the scene / Or sneak away to the Philippines / They still gonna put pictures of my derrière in the magazine" poops from a great height on anything Lily Allen has ever penned and reveals that it's been Spears who's been laughing hardest during her year of zany media antics. The tune's a fat, squelching series of beats and bleeps, which doesn't quite match the knowing lyrics, but should do enough to push this single towards the top of the charts.

To the surprise of many, she hit a home run with this one. Love the synthesized sound and the defiant lyrics. Sharp, poignant, relevant and saucy!

great song how do people know she didn't write it? any how at least britney's making an effort to rebuild her life (i used to love amy) but now i just want to go to rehab or go away and moan about blake. amy used to have a good brillant voice but because she let this blake dude get her once brill voice is becoming awful. love this song

britney Spears is better than you, you are olny jealous because you dont have the media watching your every move and even if you did you probably wouldnt handly it like britney did but thats not just the media that done this to her, you think it is but you dont even understand her, you dont talke a minute to actually realise what she has to say. And is Amy and Britney met its very highly unlikely tehy would go to a 'east end boozer' anget drunk, more like a foam party at vegas. thats what i thought ayyy

Whilst I dont actually mind the song, I have to totally disagree with the reviewer. How can Lily Allen who writes her songs on her own be compared to Britney who has a team of about 10 writers on each track??? Yes the song is OK, but I doubt Britney actually came up with a word of it on her own. Its nothing insightful or meaningful, its just a decent pop record.

The fact is, she still did not write the song herself so it's quite difficult to relate anything she's singing to her own life on a personal level. These are just lyrics written for her by writers, trying to express what They Think she is feeling, not an actual testament from Britney herself. If you pay attention to the way she handles her own professional life (i.e. not showing up for publicity reviews on her new album, and not bothering to keep interview dates) she clearly does not care to take any responsibility for her own life.

I personally think Britney should have sorted her personal life out before restarting her career, but however much I hate to admit it, this song is really good, not the greatest but it gets you on your feet

Why is most of this review plastered with silly comparisons to Amy Winehouse? Anyhow, I think the song is quite poor. When does she actually start singing and the computer stop auto tunning?

I love this song. It's the truth, she can't do anything without the media hounding her all the time.
