Robyn: 'Be Mine'
As anyone who's ever heard anything by ABBA or The Cardigans will know, the Swedes are pretty good at doing melancholy. But Robyn Miriam Carlsson, always a woman apart, seems desperate to break down that famous Scando reserve. 'With Every Heartbeat', her UK number one from last summer, was a soggy pop hankie of hurt and regret, and her new single's even more blub-worthy.

As short, staccato violins approximate the stabbing pain in her heart, Robyn unveils a raw, desperate tail of unrequited love. "It's a hard thing faking a smile when I feel like I'm falling apart inside," she sighs as she spots the object of her affection canoodling with another girl. Her spoken word interlude might not be to everyone's taste, but the combination of pristine electropop and raw, unbridled emotion make 'Be Mine' a pretty staggering pop single.

A great song. The interlude is heartbreaking... probably one the most emotional parts of the song. I've recently downloaded the whole album and recommend it.
