Radiohead: 'Jigsaw Falling Into Place'

It's a shame the 'pay-what-you-want' palaver that followed Radiohead's release of In Rainbows masked what was perhaps the greatest comeback of 2007. It was out with the shonky jazz odysseys and mindless electronic meandering of the last three albums and in with the blistering guitar wizardry and warped genius that we last saw ten years ago on OK Computer. 'Jigsaw Falling Into Place' was the undoubted highlight of an LP jammed full of great moments, making it a brilliant choice for the album's first single.

After about 19 seconds Phil Selway kick-starts his wonky drumming and Johnny Greenwood unleashes those cool, spooky guitar sounds he's been keeping in his locker for a decade. It takes all of 35 seconds to realise this isn't the band that have infuriated us with their deliberately glitchy, experimental cr*p for far too long. Claustrophobic, haunting and without any of the daft nonsense that ruined Kid A and co., this is the sound of one of the world's best bands shedding their inhibitions about selling records and just making great music again.
