Kanye West: 'Flashing Lights'
News that Kanye West prefers a quiet game of Connect Four to a nice bit of pimpin' or hustlin' shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's listened to his Graduation LP. Although there's the usual mix of bravado and proclamations of greatness that we expect from our hip-hop stars, he's never been an artist afraid to show his more vulnerable side and experiment a little.

'Flashing Lights' is a million miles away from the bog-standard booty-shaking served up by Diddy, Fiddy and co., easily demonstrating why West is the hottest property in US music at the moment. Mixing chilled-out electronics, jittering synths and laid-back, old-skool hip-hop, he creates a sumptuous track that grows more intriguing with every listen. For a man not shy of declaring his own greatness, this track more than justifies his super-sized ego.

The second most accessible song off the album after "Stronger" sees a release, finally. The best hip-hop artist around at the moment for sure.
