Lupe Fiasco ft. Matthew Santos: 'Superstar'
Erudite, sensitive and not entirely averse to modesty, Lupe Fiasco isn't your average rapper. The Chicago native, born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, made waves in the States with his debut album Food & Liquor, which debuted inside the top ten and yielded three Grammy nominations. 'Superstar', the lead single from Lupe Fiasco's The Cool, his follow-up collection, looks set to bring the UK up to date.

Over loping beats and a looped piano riff, Fiasco takes a cleaver to the celebrity lifestyle with gimlet-eyed precision. "Everybody gets a nice autograph picture," he spits. "One for you and one for your sister, who had to work tonight but is an avid listener." The hazy, gospel-inflected chorus, sung by Chicago folkie Matthew Santos, is just as memorable, suggesting everyone but Kanye should be quaking in his diamond-studded Reeboks.
