The Little Ones: 'Ordinary Song'
Imagine the Magic Numbers if they weren't fat, beardy types from Ealing and, instead, were reasonably good-looking chaps from California. They'd be a lot more appealing, wouldn't they? To that end, allow us to introduce The Little Ones, an LA four-piece who sound like they've been locked in Alf's surf shack with The Kinks, the Beach Boys and The Shins rotating on the vinyl-player. Just in the nick of time, they've come along to brighten up these bleak January evenings.

Unlike the Magic Numbers and those other sunshine indie-rockers The Thrills, nothing about The Little Ones sounds forced. The chirpy bluster of their west coast melodies reeks of the California sun, bikini-clad babes and buff surfer hunks - because that's clearly what they know best. Edward Nolan Reyes injects enough fragility into his vocals to prevent us from wanting to punch him for living such a wonderful and happy life, while the shimmering ding-dong bells that lead the outro are so bleedin' infectious they should be diagnosed to Miss Britney Spears pronto.
