Kylie Minogue: 'Wow'
Despite having her own telly show, grinding around X Factor victor Leon Jackson and gaining a couple of Brit Award nominations, not even Kylie Minogue could disguise the collective sigh that greeted her X album. While the Goldfrapp-meets-Stock Aitken Waterman romp of '2 Hearts' brought a few cheap thrills, it wasn't the enchanting, ground-breaking pop that Kylie and her team have produced in the past.

Unfortunately for fans of the Aussie minx, 'Wow' won't silence whispers that she's treading water at the moment. While the disco swirls and whooshing synths are great fun, and the 'Wow-Wooow-Woooow-Wooooow' effect on the chorus will undoubtedly be nicked for the next Girls Aloud album, it doesn't have the 'oomph' factor to make us fall for her like we have in the past. It's Kylie in glittering hot pants and a sparkly top, but glittering hot pants and a sparkly top that we've seen her donning several times before.

"like a drug" Kylie is back and the track truly is a 21st Century Pop song, "Wow" serves us a Lite Frothy Latte style pop hit and just like the rest of the starbucks culture WE LOVE IT! "In My Arms" both lyrically, visually (video) and sounds Fab "All I See and No More Rain" are very listenable songs as part of a playlist. The filler tracks do what the are supposed to do and in the age of iTunes its great we can pick 'n' mix. "2 hearts" is not in my opinion an album launcher, but like an brief friend, I feel the better for knowing it. "The One" is another Kylie great that will pass the Mass top 40 bye, but is a great song. Kylie's Metamorphosis continues to memorize this fan. . . and she looks great! Kylie haters will grow old and she will continue to produce hits. Positive vibes Kylie - keep it up!

Ian, my apologies. I should have read your comment a little closer. Although I do maintain that the album hasn't sold wonderfully well. Not as much as I thought it would anyway for a Kylie album.

I sort of agree with the review, although after playing the album lots, I do really enjoy most of it and is my most played at the moment! As for Wow, I think it's great. Fun, catchy disco-pop at it's best. I've damn-near forced people to listen to this song and even the music-to-slit-your-wrists-to fans really like it. Although Ian, sadly you're quite wrong. The album was released physically some time ago. I've had my copy for 6 weeks or more. It hasn't sold wonderfully well, but respectably, I'm sure. I think Kylie is a beautiful, sexy lady (and not just "for her age") and I hope there's plenty more to come from her. Ta!

This song is classic Kylie, utterly brilliant as was 'X'. The album is full of instant classics, 'The One', 'No More Rain', and 'Stars' to name but a few. Totally agree with Ian, you guys have absolutely no clue about decent music. Kylie is as populat as ever after 20 years, long may she continue.

YOUR REVIEW OF KYLIES WOW SINGLE AND X ALBUM ARE COMPLETELY RUBBISH. WOW IS A FANTASTIC SINGLE AND A BRILLANT POP SONG. HER X CD IS JUST FANTASTIC AND YOUR COMMENTS ON HOW IT IS SELLING ARE NONSENSE. YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVEN'T LOOKED AT THE SALES FIGURES. WOW HAS BEEN IN THE SINGLES CHARTS SINCE DECEMBER 07 ON DOWNLOADS ALONE AND HASN'T EVEN BEEN RELEASED PHYSICALLY. YOUR REVIEW IS SO INCORRECT.

"Goldfrapp-meets-Stock Aitken Waterman romp of '2 Hearts' " Stock Aitken Waterman ?? Are you MAD ?! '2 Hearts' couldn't get any further away if it had legs ! That statement alone shows your ears haven't got a clue.

Yeah I agree on the whole, i think the album is a bit second rate, but then everything since Fever has been a bit less than expected. Wow is probably the best song on the album, and it is fun, but its like album quality - it sort of reminds me of when Over Dreaming Over You was the B side to Better The Devil You Know... Wow is a nice little pop song that really should have only been and album track. Shame really as Kylie is the best (saying that, she is looking a bit saggy around the massive silicone cheek implants these days - she needs a tighten up, and i think its time for the nose job now kylie, dannii is looking soo great since she had all her work done)

You're right to complain about the song and the X album Digital Spy... strictly mediocre for Kylie. We expect better as a nation - Better the Devil you Know, Confide in Me, Spinning Around, Can't get you out of my head... then that TOSH called "2 hearts" and marginally better "WOW"... She once could do so much better.. I doubt she can anymore!

What an utterly pointless review. You complain when she experiments (as your review of X attests) and you complain when she releases her trademark pop. Get a grip DS, you're losing it.
