Jay Sean: 'Ride It'
Jay Sean isn't like most R&B stars. He went to a boys-only private school, studied medicine for two years at the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and, more pertinently, nabbed himself two top ten hits in 2004 without a flutter of publicity or Kanye/Fiddy-esque macho posturing. Moulding his Asian roots around commercial R&B and old-school hip-hop sounds proved fruitful on his debut record Me Against Myself, and, if 'Ride It' is anything to go by, he's following the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' philosophy for album number two.

Based around the sort of groove R Kelly used to knock out by the half-dozen back when he wasn't spending every other day on the phone to his lawyers, this won't be everyone's cup of tea. His cringe-inducing calls to "turn the lights down low" are about as alluring as an offer to spend an evening tucked up with Judy Finnigan, and the sleek, smooth production does nothing to perk up its rather bland beats. That said, it's got a catchy chorus, its cheeky, finger-clicking break-down should find itself onto the next Beyoncé album, and, best of all, it's better than Soulja Boy. For that, we can all be grateful.

Without a doubt, this has GOT to be one of the best songs of the year! Classy production, second to none lyrics and a voice that is smooth, silky and adaptable. The person who reviewed this track obviously DOESNT know what they are doin!! they gota seriously get their ears cleaned! and this and Soulja Boy are two top tunes......both amazing....yet both totally different.....u cant be comparing the two....peace x

Haha you wish, bland beat? What song you been listening to? stop reviewing urban music, you simply have no idea! Better than the screamo trash around at the minute...and they actually write their own songs!

Yeh seriously bland beat?!?!?! I've wrote in so many times telling you to stop reviewing urban music, because you really don't have a clue! This song is really good, due to be 17 on the chart with 1 week sales and basically no publicity, and it will go higher the following week. I think for a guy who has no publicity he's doing really good. I just still can't believe you said the beat was bland, thats what makes the song a slow-jam!

Bland Beats?.. Im sorry I have to disagree with you. This track is amazing, and deserves much more then 3 stars. This song deserves to be No.1 in the UK Charts, the stuff thats in the top 10 now is complete trash. This Track is what I would class as Proper Music, everything about it is just perfect. I think other R&B artists should listen to this and take some tips on how to write a decent record as this one ticks all of the boxes.
