Elliot Minor: 'Still Figuring Out'

York isn't a city with a great musical heritage. With the exception of one-time Britpop kings Shed Seven, the Northern tourist trap has been severely lacking in rock 'n' roll heroes. So it's probably a pleasant surprise for the tourist board that Elliot Minor are trying their darn hardest to change York's fortunes with their unique brand of gothic punk-pop. With the haircuts and pop production of Busted and guitar-slamming edge of Fall Out Boy, their forthcoming debut album is poised to become a teenage staple.

'Still Figuring Out' follows the blueprint laid out by previous singles 'Jessica' and 'The White One Is Evil' - all energetic riffs, multi-vocal harmonies and thunderous choruses. It very nearly slips into McFly's pop-with-guitar territory but, seeing as the band supported Harry, Dougie, Tom and Danny on their recent Greatest Hits tour, they won't be too worried about that. 'Still Figuring Out' is harmless fun that will have legions of kids whacking out air guitars in front of the bedroom mirror.
