Paramore: 'Misery Business'
Credibility is an issue for Paramore. Thanks to their sugar-coated emo sound and the rawk chick good looks of Hayley Williams, the band's lead singer, they're often sneered at by the more snobbish elements of the rock fraternity. However, while Williams' impassioned vocals and boy-baiting lyrics have a hint of Avril Lavigne to them, there's a lot more going on here than bubblegum talk of 'sk8er bois' and teenage crushes.

'Misery Business' is the perfect embodiment of Paramore's slick, effective style. Williams' snarling lyrics - "But I got him where I want him now, it was never my intention… to steal him all away from you now" goes the chorus – are a million miles away from the likes of "Hey, hey, you, you, I wanna be your girlfriend". In fact, she brings some genuine girl power to the world of rock. This single showcases a band with more bite than the average pansy indie group and a better grasp of melody and rock dynamics than most of the post-Libertines rabble that the UK music scene has produced.

Paramore = awesome. It's a shame they felt the need to rerelease the song but I hope it does well.
