Mark Brown ft. Sarah Cracknell: 'The Journey Continues'

With Saint Etienne on hiatus since 2005's Tales From Turnpike House, it's a real treat to hear Sarah Cracknell's voice again. Hooking up with DJ Mark Brown, she's laid her honeyed, irrepressibly girlish tones over his classical-inspired dance instrumental 'The Journey Continues'.

Cracknell's vocals dovetail beautifully with the sample from 'Eliza's Aria' by Austrian composer Elena Kats-Chenin – that's the music from the Lloyds TSB commercial to you and me – imbuing Brown's dancefloor throb with a nice bit of English pop melancholy. In fact, so charming is 'The Journey Continues' that it even makes up for that nadir of bank advert soundtracks: 'You're The First, The Last, My Everything' by Howard from the Halifax campaign.
