OneRepublic: 'Stop And Stare'
Despite scoring one of the biggest hits of last year, OneRepublic remain as anonymous as cold-callers. Perhaps the Colorado five-piece aren't the most glamorous band around, but the relentless self-promotion of Timbaland, their recent collaborator, didn't help matters. After adding his usual state-of-the-art beats to their 'Apologise', he rather gracelessly took top billing when it was released as a single.

Nevertheless, OneRepublic's follow-up tune suggests there is such thing as life after Timbaland. 'Stop and Stare' is a big, muscular rock ballad, very much in the Matchbox 20 mould, steered by a vein-poppingly emotional vocal from lead singer Ryan Tedder. It's blessed with little in the way of originality, but, when its ruthlessly effective arena rock chorus takes hold, few are likely to care.

I think this song is great, but then i loved Apologise, although i do agree that Timberland should not have tried to take the glory. At least with this one they show that they can make a great song with out the need for a big name collaboration. Cant wait to see what else they release.
