Guillemots: 'Get Over It'
As well as having one of the finest names in pop, Fyfe Dangerfield knows how to create genre-defying tunes that combine the universal appeal of Coldplay - well, almost - with the playful knowingness of The Feeling. His band's debut disc, Through The Windowpane, fused jazz, indie, Motown and everything in between, bagging itself a Mercury nod in the process. Now, with the brilliant electro-glam of 'Get Over It', Guillemots' star looks set to rise further.

Over a host of rippling drum beats and whooshing synth squiggles, its chorus stomps like a herd of elephants auditioning for Riverdance. With cheeky "wooh-a-wooh" backing vocals and Dangerfield bellowing "I want you like I'm 18!", it's both a Chris Moyles-friendly radio 'choon' and a dancefloor smash-in-waiting. Providing a lively alternative to the grim Northern posturing of the Arctics and drizzly X Factor ballads of Leona Lewis, Guillemots are that rare thing: a chart act that it's actually cool to sing along to.
