Keyshia Cole ft. Missy, Lil' Kim: 'Let It Go'

Over here, Keyshia Cole is best known - well, solely known, if we're honest - as a vocalist for hire, the soul singer who's crooned choruses for Sean Paul and P Diddy. In the States, she's a rather bigger deal, with two platinum albums and her own reality show, Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is under her (presumably designer) belt.

'Let It Go', a US top ten hit last summer, sounds like Alicia Keys after a ghetto fabulous makeover: Missy Elliott beats, an Off The Wall groove and cameos from the two leading ladies of rap. Cole's vocals are as impressive as ever, adding some real urgency to the fairly uninspired man trouble lyrics, but she's upstaged by Lil' Kim, who tells her, with typical chutzpah, "You might be where he's at, but I'm where he wanna be". It's a step in the right direction, but Cole doesn't quite shake off that 'vocalist for hire' tag.
