The Zutons: 'Always Right Behind You'
The Zutons have quietly gone about the business of making firecracker indie-pop tunes for seven years now. The psychedelia-infused sound of their first two albums was hardly groundbreaking, but the Scouse guitar-slingers always gave it enough welly in their live shows to keep fans grinning. Now that Mark Ronson has made 'Valerie' the smash it always deserved to be, and with album number three on the horizon, the time is ripe for the Zoots to enter rock 'n' roll's big league.

Giddier than a kid on the waltzers after a bottle of Sunny D, 'Always Right Behind You' cherry-picks the best bits from The Zutons' back catalogue and stuffs them into a jaunty three-and-a-half-minute stomp. Dave McCabe's rather sinister lyrics ("You can keep on laughing behind my back, because I'm waiting for the moment to strike you back") are juxtaposed with Abi Harding's sax jamming and the band's wobbly melody with gorgeous results. Brimming with positivity, this should raise a smile even when you're up to your waist in mud at this year's festivals.
