Another new No.1?

As your Grandmother used to say, what goes around comes around. On Sunday Coldplay were unceremoniously dumped off the No.1 spot after just seven days. Now it looks as though the same is going to happen to Ne-Yo, the band's usurper, come the end of the week.

The single poised to dethrone 'Closer' this Sunday? Well, it's not 'No Air' by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, as many of us had hoped. Nor is it 'All I Ever Wanted' by Basshunter, as some of us had feared. It's actually 'Dance Wiv Me', a fairly unlikely collaboration between Mercury Prize-winning rapper Dizzee Rascal and knob-twiddling whizzkid Calvin Harris.

Haven't heard it? Well, 'Dance Wiv Me' is a playful, danceable electro-rap tune about eyeing up a fit bird in a club. Dizzee admires her thighs, Calvin wishes she'd ditch her boyfriend, Dizzee chides himself for not making his move, and there's even space for a nice Sophie Ellis-Bextor reference: "Now it's murder on the dance-floor, I wanna take this further than the dance-floor."

Truth be told, 'Dance Wiv Me' isn't the best song we've heard this year, but it's pleasing to see another British rapper making a long-awaited chart breakthrough. If someone had told us this time last year that both Estelle and Dizzee Rascal would score No.1s in 2008, we'd have said, 'Yeah right, and Shakin' Stevens will play Glastonbury too'.

Anyway, here's the 'Dance Wiv Me' video for you:

Would 'Dance Wiv Me' make a deserving No.1? Or would you prefer 'Closer' or 'No Air' to top the charts? Use the space below to have your say.

omg this is such a tune, dizzee rascal has been at his very best recently and a number one would be well deserved. im just surprised his previous release 'flex' didnt get as far up in the chart, as that was equally as brill. and he's so funny in this video, cracks me up every time.

I would totally love to see Jordin and CHris at number 1!! Even though I kinda like this song, i would prefer "No Air" at the top! It's kinda good that more and more club beats are getting in the top of the UK Singles charts. :D

I'm torn actually because all those songs (except for the godawful Basshunter)mentioned are so different but they're all great. Whoever gets to the top spot deserves it.

No Air by Jordin Sparks ft Chris Brown should totally be topping the charts! It's an amazing song and Jordin really deserves it!
