Another new Pussycat Dolls single

Published Friday, Aug 29 2008, 10:12 BST | By Nick Levine | 7 comments
Yes, we know 'When I Grow Up' isn't even out over here yet, but the second single from the new Pussycat Dolls album has already appeared online. It's called 'Whatcha Think About That' and it's a midtempo electropop tune built around a distinctive, bhangra-ish guitar riff. Oh yes, and Missy Elliott's all over it like a rash.

The lyrics, about getting rid of your no-good-controlling-waste-of-space boyfriend, are fairly standard girly R&B fare. But there's a nice moment during Missy's rap, when she drops in a reference to everyone's favourite chart-topping lespo-pop anthem: "Up in that club it's just me and my girls, play like Katy Perry kissing on girls." Now Missy, don't you know that's how rumours start?

Truth be told, 'Whatcha Think About That' is slightly disappointing after the hyperactive pop brilliance of 'When I Grow Up'. It's decent rather than dazzling - a bit of an album track. But don't take our word for it, you can make up your own mind by having a listen over on the Pussycat Dolls' official website.

Do you rate 'Whatcha Think About That?' How does it compare to 'When I Grow Up'? Use the space below to have your say.

That song is SH!T. I expected more from pcd. Doll Domination is heading straight to the trash can, and i really wasted my money. But i do love Melody Thornton Song,"Space". And Ashley Roberts song,"Played".

This song is definitely amazing! It takes a few listens to get into, but it's a very good song. It's got a great beat and the lyrics are so personal and easy to enjoy. I definitely think "When I Grow Up" is amazing and that it's poppiness is much more catchy, and although "Whatcha Think About That" may not be the best choice for the second single (it may do better as the third), it is a great song and I think a lot of people will be able to relate to it and find it enjoyable after a few listens.

i actually love this song is so different from when i grow up (we all were waiting for something similar) but they actually surprise me and made some brilliant stuff totally different to their previous work. I actually love the track and have played it minimum 50 times on my ipod.. and let keep clear that i am not a serious fan of PCD i just like them..

To be honest I just want a single with someone else singing. Im tired of Nicoles vocals. Her solo career was a disaster, Jessica has a great vocal so does Melody
