The new Bond theme, 'Another Way To Die' by Jack White and Alicia Keys, had its first play on Radio 1 this morning. Our initial reaction was 'What a bloody mess!', and we still think it could do with a proper chorus, but after a few spins Jack and Alicia have just about won us over.

The fast-parping horns recall John Barry's classic themes from Bond movies past, while the portentous piano chords and scuzzy guitar riffs are a fitting soundtrack for Daniel Craig, a 007 who isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty.

Meanwhile, Jack and Alicia trade lines loaded with menace and intrigue. The rather ominous pay-off? "Someone that you think that you can trust is just another way to die." It's no 'Diamonds Are Forever', but at least this is more interesting than Chris Cornell's drab effort from Casino Royale.
