That new Mariah Carey single

Mariah Carey performed her new single, 'I Stay In Love', on The X Factor last night - a high-profile TV slot she really needed, especially since her last single, 'I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time', was an almighty flop. You might not agree with Simon Cowell's assessment that she's the "biggest star in the world", but few would deny that Mariah singles shouldn't really be stalling at #84.

Anyway, 'I Stay In Love' is a fairly standard modern day Mariah track. It's essentially a retread of 'We Belong Together', but a not unpleasant retread, especially when she gets all misty-eyed reminiscing about "riding shotgun next to you, with the top down like we used to do". The video, which appears for your viewing pleasure below, manages to be both ridiculous and a little bit moving - quite an achievement.
