Girls Aloud reveal new single details

Published Saturday, Nov 22 2008, 11:05 GMT | By Nick Levine | 13 comments
That's right, Girls Aloud have revealed the identity of their 20th single and the follow-up to their number one smash 'The Promise'. Here's everything you need to know:

  • It's going to be.... wait for it.... 'The Loving Kind'.

  • It's a songwriting collaboration between Xenomania, the group's usual writing/production team, and the Pet Shop Boys.

  • It's a shimmering electropop track that shares a decent chunk of its DNA with the 'Call The Shots'.

  • It's probably the standout track from the the girls' Out of Control album.

  • It's also one of the most emotionally resonant songs of the group's career.

  • Oh, and one last thing - it's coming out on January 12.
Do you think 'The Loving Kind' is a good choice of single? How will it do on the charts? Use the space below to have your say.

The Pet Shop boys are the least progressive band on the planet. Everything they make is bland and empty and sounds like it was recorded inside an empty tin can. Unfortunately their collaboration with Girls Aloud is just as generic. It seems a lot of people wish they had written 'Call The Shots' and it looks like the PSB's were desperate to recreate that track, however their end result is nothing more than a chep imitation.

Love this tune. I stand out from the album, deff will be in the top 3 no doubt, if not number one again! Wouldn't that be great! Hope radio edit for Untouchable is third single out around April time or Miss You Now Bow Wow, before the tour kicks off any ways! Keep it up Girls x x

Very good choice for the second single. Hoping for a radio edit of "Untouchable" for the third single.
