Nice one Alexandra, never mind Geraldine

We're not even going to pretend there's any competition for the Christmas number one spot, but there's still a fair bit of intrigue to this week's midweek charts. Here's how everyone's getting on so far:

  • Alexandra Burke's 'Hallelujah' has sold a shade under 150,000 copies so far. Simon, the champers is on you.

  • Why restrict yourself to one version of 'Hallelujah' when you can have three? Jeff Buckley's rendition is on course to chart in the top three on Sunday, while the Leonard Cohen original should also enter the top 40.

  • Beyoncé's benefiting from the X Factor effect too. 'If I Were Boy' and 'Listen' are both on course to chart in the top five.

  • James Morrison's 'Broken Strings' is challenging for a position in the top five following Saturday's performance on The Girls Aloud Party.

  • At present, Geraldine McQueen's 'Once Upon A Christmas Song' is just about sneaking into the top ten. Chin up, Gezza! (As long as you've shaved.)

  • Girls Aloud's 'The Loving Kind' - which isn't out until January 12 - is already working its way up the top 40.
