Nominated: Ian Brown, James Morrison, Paul Weller, The Streets, Will Young
Our prediction: James Morrison seems like the most obvious choice, but the bookies rarely get it wrong, so we're sticking our bets on the grey-haired Mod legend Paul Weller.

Nominated: Adele, Beth Rowley, Duffy, Estelle, M.I.A
Our prediction: Somehow we doubt that Beth Rowley and M.I.A are slaving over their speeches, with this category looking like a three-way battle. Adele may have the Brit School connections, but Duffy's impressive album sales should give her the edge.

Nominated: Coldplay, Elbow, Girls Aloud, Radiohead, Take That
Our prediction: An Elbow victory would add a genuine twist to the evening, but it's unlikely that the Mancunians will be able topple Take That, Coldplay and Girls Aloud. It really could be any of the three, but we reckon this is the year for Girls Aloud to win their first Brit.

Nominated: Coldplay for Viva La Vida, Duffy for Rockferry, Elbow for The Seldom Seen Kid, Radiohead for In Rainbows, Ting Tings for We Started Nothing
Our prediction: Coldplay and Duffy are the biggest sellers of the past 12 months so we can safely assume that one of them will take home the gong. Our guess? Forced smiles from Chris Martin and the second gong of the evening for the Welsh songbird.

Nominated: Adele, Duffy, The Last Shadow Puppets, Scouting For Girls, Ting Tings
Our prediction: Voted for by Radio 1 listeners, this is the most likely award to throw up a surprise. It could be a hat-trick for Duffy or a well-deserved victory for Ting Tings, but we have a scary suspicion that this might be Scouting For Girls' moment in the limelight.

Nominated: Coldplay, Elbow, Iron Maiden, Scouting For Girls, The Verve
Our prediction: Coldplay can't come away from the evening empty-handed and no matter how much we'd love to see Iron Maiden's acceptance speech, this looks like the most likely category for Chris Martin and co. to score a victory.

Nominated: Coldplay for 'Viva La Vida', Duffy for 'Mercy', Girls Aloud for 'The Promise', Leona Lewis for 'Better In Time', Scouting For Girls for 'Heartbeat'
Our prediction: Chosen by commercial radio listeners and The Sun readers, this award is one of the hardest to predict. We suspect the Cheryl Cole factor may help Girls Aloud to scoop the title for 'The Promise', but don't rule out another shock from Scouting For Girls.

Nominated: Beck, Neil Diamond, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Seasick Steve
Our prediction: A straight battle between two American rap heavyweights, we reckon Jay-Z's Gallagher-baiting performance at Glastonbury should swing the vote his way.

Nominated: Beyoncé, Gabriella Cilmi, Katy Perry, Pink, Santogold
Our prediction: Katy Perry seems like the obvious choice given her headline-grabbing potential, but the panel may be unable to resist giving Mr and Mrs Jay-Z the double and handing the gong to Beyoncé.

Nominated: AC/DC, Fleet Foxes, The Killers, Kings of Leon, MGMT
Our prediction: The Killers may offer a bit of competition, but this looks like the easiest award to predict with Kings of Leon the surefire winners. They also happen to be performing at the ceremony. Well fancy that!

Nominated: AC/DC for Black Ice, Fleet Foxes for Fleet Foxes, The Killers for Day & Age, Kings of Leon for Only By The Night, MGMT for Oracular Spectacular
Our tip: We don't think Fleet Foxes should be splashing out on the champers just yet. As with the International Act category, this looks like a banker for Kings Of Leon, whose squillion-selling Only By The Night LP would make a worthy winner.
