So, this new Black Eyed Peas single

We'll lay our cards on the table from the start. We've really enjoyed some Black Eyed Peas tunes, but there are others - *cough* 'My Humps' *cough* - that we've found as palatable as a chalk sandwich. The new one, however, is a cracker. It's called 'Boom Boom Pow' and it's a slightly ridiculous robopop stomper on which will.i.am boasts that his beats are "so big I'm steppin' on leprechauns".

As well as those leprechaun-squashing beats, it features lots of Auto-Tune, no real chorus, surging techno synths that arrive about half-way through and this so-dumb-it's-genius couplet from Fergie: "I'm so 3008 - you so 2000 and late." We're making it sound like a bit of a mess, and it certainly isn't coventional, but 'Boom Boom Pow' really does hit the spot and it's already a number one across the pond.
