B-side of the Week: Agnes goes acoustic

Published Friday, May 29 2009, 14:14 BST | By David Balls | 10 comments
Seemingly appearing out of nowhere, 'Release Me' by Sweden's Agnes is shaping up to be the surprise smash of the summer. As this classy club banger races up the charts, we've been investigating the remixes available on the download bundle.

Thankfully we haven't been disappointed. Tucked away at the tail end of a seven-track package is an acoustic version of 'Release Me' that might just stop you in your tracks. Gone are the thumping beats of the original, replaced by a simple, elegant arrangement that highlights Agnes's impressive vocals.

Sounding a bit like something Leona Lewis might record, this version of 'Release Me' suggests that Agnes's popularity could extend beyond just the one summer anthem. The full remix is available on the download bundle, but here's a one-minute clip to tease you.

What do you think of the acoustic version of 'Release Me'? Is Agnes as good a singer as Leona Lewis? Use the space below to leave your comments.
