B-side of the Week: Pixie Lott's 'Want You'

Published Friday, Jun 5 2009, 06:12 BST | By David Balls | 1 comment
Since nabbing a record deal last year, 18-year-old pop starlet Pixie Lott has been holed up in the studio with the producers behind some of Lady GaGa, Lily Allen and Beyoncé's biggest hits. She's now finally releasing her debut single 'Mama Do', and to celebrate we're giving the B-side a spin.

'Want You' is the sort of good, clean, wholesome pop tune that's dangerously close to extinction these days. Sounding a bit like JoJo mixed with early Britney, it's a cutesy love song that finds Pixie bemoaning the problems that a hectic lifestyle can have on maintaining a relationship.

It's all very pleasant and encouraging for what lies ahead, but given her current support slot with The Saturdays, name-checking Ipswich, Southend and Leicester may have been more realistic than the jet-setting references to Los Angeles, Tokyo and Paris. At least for the time being Pixie.

The full version is available on the 'Mama Do' CD single, out Monday, but here's a 60-second clip for now:
