Update: Michael Jackson, Cascada, Lady GaGa
Published Wednesday, Jul 1 2009, 11:25 BST | By Nick Levine | 28 comments
Right then, here's today's update from the MJ-dominated midweeks.

'Man In The Mirror' is still in pole position, but Cascada's 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' has leapfrogged La Roux's 'Bulletproof' to become its nearest challenger.
There's one fewer Jacko track in the top 40 today - for the record, it's 'Ben' that's slipped out - but those that remain are in roughly the same positions as yesterday.
Lady GaGa's 'Paparazzi' has slipped a place since Sunday but is still in the top five.
Jamie T's 'Sticks 'N Stones' has now climbed into the top 15.
Jordin Sparks's 'Battlefield' is a couple of places outside the top 20 - we know, we feel the same way you do.
Oh, and 'Work' by The Saturdays is stuck between the 25 and 30 posts.
So, is there anyone else you'd like to know about on Friday?

imo, that jls song is just plain s**t.. but sadly, it probably will hit the top 10 but it certainly won't go to #1 cuz tbh, its shit and the tvs and radios are already killing it..

@James & all the other musically challenged Chavs posting here! Why do Chavcada deserve to be number 1? What have they given to the world of music other than cheap tacky covers, a Lady GaGa rip-off, rubbish videos & a big lass who can't dance or sing live & looks like Hulk Hogan in a dress? Michael Jackson 'The King of Pop' v Chavcada "The Queen of Chavs!! If Chavcada do make number 1, it really will be the Day That Music Died!!!!!

Cascada for Number 1! C'mon Natalie, Manian and Yanou... You can do it! Cascada are the only group that truly deserve number 1 on sunday. Michael Jackson has died, very sad, but why should he go to number 1 for that?

im gutted that gaga's falling a place but when the physical release takes place, it should reach #1 hopefully coz i dont really like the cascada or la roux songs and im sick to death of MJ.. also, how are "rabbit heart (raise it up) - florence and the machine" and "heartbreak make me a dancer" doing?

Battlefield is a good song but it has several factors going against it. The first is its similarity to other recent Ryan Tedder produced singles, namely ‘Halo’ and the far superior ‘Bleeding Love’. People are beginning to tire of Tedder’s over produced, grandiose, pseudo dramatic sound and while it worked brilliantly on Bleeding Love, the trick is not quite repeated on Battlefield. Secondly, Jordin Sparks does not have the personality to carry off the ‘battlefield as a metaphor for a painful relationship’ lyrics. She has marginally more edge than a Disney pop star and it is hard to believe she has ever experienced pain, let alone the bloodbath of a battlefield. Thirdly the video is extremely poor. A good video can take a song to new avenues and transform people’s perceptions but this video does neither. Early singles ‘Tattoo’ and ‘No Air’ suited her ‘good girl’ persona while Battlefield serves only to highlight Jordin’s limitation. She simply cannot create the image the song projects. In the hands of a more capable artist, Battlefield would be number one.

I want Cascada to be #1. I'm sorry, but it's not fair now that Jackson dies he gets to be #1 again.. that ruins Cascada's position.

cascada deserve no1? really? chavvy britney wannabe, its soooo unbelievably manufactured "feels like an overdose" oh, is that a good feeling? cos last time i checked, an overdose wasn't a good thing as for MJ songs...love them and all but no comment on the chart domination. I actually like gaga's new song; i like the lyrics! it's not very functional as a dance record like her previous releases but that's a good thing! i'm sick of hearing La Roux. I must be one of the only people who thinks "bulletproof" just isn't no1 material. Tbh, i'm over BEP cos when they first came out with "where is the love" there was a lotta promise for them to deliver better than the last few singles. where are all the acoustic acts?! Brett Dennen and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly deserve no1s respectively but you can't really dance to them and they have proper meaning so i guess they don't fit the criteria.
