Update: Cascada, Lady GaGa, Arctic Monkeys

Published Wednesday, Jul 8 2009, 11:28 BST | By Nick Levine | 20 comments
There's a lot going on in today's midweeks, so let's get straight down to business.

  • The top three still runs 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' - 'Bulletproof' - 'Man In The Mirror'.

  • Lady GaGa's 'Paparazzi' has neither climbed nor slipped since Sunday.

  • It's onwards and upwards for Chipmunk's 'Diamond Rings', which is now a kitten's whisker outside the top five.

  • Jordin Sparks's 'Battlefield' is holding on inside the top ten, while Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling' is now just a couple of places outside.

  • Arctic Monkeys' 'Crying Lightning' - review to come by the way - is already inside the top 20.

  • The Saturdays' 'Work' has slipped out of the top 30, while VV Brown's 'Shark In The Water' remains between the 35 and 40 posts.

  • Over on the albums chart, Michael Jackson's The Essential has toppled Florence's Lungs. Cascada's Evacuate The Dancefloor is a couple of places inside the top ten.

  • So, where do we think the Monkeys will end up by Sunday? And can VV Brown climb any higher? Just use the usual space to make your predictions.

How is 'I Gotta Feeling' - Black Eyed Peas doing? Hopefully it's entered the top 10 And Ciara - 'Work' news would be nice Lady GaGa for number 1 :D

What about the midweek figures for Pitbull?

Paparazzi deserves top 3 at least, Chipmunk needs to get out of the top 10, and imo MJ has had his time in the top 40 now. Oh and please buy Shark In The Water, an amazing song that isn't getting the recognition it deserves.

VV Brown -' Shark In The Water ' is a 10/10 amazing song she deserves AT LEAST top 5, the song is such a hit for her and she deserves to go high up the charts. It is my favourite song at the moment and i hope every goes out and buys it or downloads it from Itunes. She really needs to receive the recognition she deserves!

Please if anyone has any sense it would be the top 10 like this: Evacuate The Dancfloor - Bulletproof - Paparazzi - Shark In The Water - Battlefield - Man In The Mirror - When Love Takes Over - Rabbit Heart - Mama Do. Chipmunk should be at 26. Can you update on the above and also Noisettes-Never Forget You.

Paparazzi deserves higher than the top 4 placing it reached before.... really hope it goes higher it should be number 1 but maybe she'll make 3 everyone has the album though and its really hard to buy physical single releases now as well...

Would like a Lady GaGa 'Paparazzi' update on Friday too. Thanks. Hpe for No. 1, but realistically, Top 3 is highest she'll get, at a stretch :(

Disappointed Work is out of the top 30 but the girls still pulled off a amazing tour!
    J, UK, on July 8th, 2009
Lady GaGa should have reached number one. I'm glad 'Bulletproof' managed it, but I have a feeling they've used up the best songs on the album now...whereas GaGa still has a few up her sleeve; 'LoveGame', 'Starstruck' and 'Chillin'. I hope 'Battlefield' climbs, MJ bows out and Chipmunk does NOT get any higher, its fine but it is NOT top 5 worthy.

It looks like Chipmunk is set to go straight to number one I think with 'diamond rings' and what do you guys think anyway will he be No 1 or Cascada be still at number one?
Miles Pearce, Basingstoke, on July 8th, 2009
Gaga for no 1 please and L roux to be kicked out of the charts, so dull and oring one of the worst songs of the year. can't wait for man in mirror to fall out of the charts. i gotta feeling, comparing it to boom boom pow it's awful
Steve, London, on July 8th, 2009
Is Jacko getting a decent bounce in sales after the memorial? Could he get to No1?
Dan, Hunstanton, on July 8th, 2009
shark in the water by vv Brown is a brillient song i think it might crack top 20 by sunday but deserves to be a top 10 hit she just needs to get herself estabilished 1st. Cascada for number 1 agen!! and i think the moneys shud made top 10! any news on lenka- the show? x
Simon, Brighton, on July 8th, 2009
Glad 'The Essential' MJ is holding at the top. Music that legendary deserves at least one more week. Was hoping the Gaga would get her 3rd consecutive #1 as well - ho-hum!
James, Watford, on July 8th, 2009
i won't be surprised if Chipmunk makes the top 5 by sunday. also, considering Arctic Monkeys have made the top 20 off the back of 1 day of downloads alone, they could easily be in the top 10 as well.

I think it is such a shame that The Saturdays 'Work' has never really climbed very high in the charts! All their other songs have done very well and this one, apart from Up, is their best to date! I think they released the video too late, it has only been around for 3 to 4 weeks while others come out months in advance so they have a lot of recognition! Looking forward to their next album though. Totally agree with Cascada and Lady Gaga. Don't see the big thing about La Roux - 'In For The Kill' has just got annoying now because her voice is so squeekyand 'Bulletproof' is so dull. I think 'Battlefield' should be higher up as it is an amazing song, so is 'Shark In The Water'. I love the meaning of VV Brown's song. The other songs I haven't heard of yet but I'll be listening out! I'm so glad Michael Jackson is re - appearing in the charts, his music is just magical!

Shame that VV still isnt any higher :(
