Fortunately, 'Fight For This Love', which premiered on Radio 1 earlier, is better than quite good. It's a midtempo electro-R&B track written by Andre Merritt, Steve Kipner and Wayne Wilkins, it doesn't sound like anything Girls Aloud have given us, and it's got a real quiet confidence to it. It doesn't slap you round the face the first time you hear it - the production's slick rather than bombastic, and there's no whopping great hook - but after three or four plays it seduces you like a high-class hooker. "This," you realise, "is a really good song."
And Cheryl? Well, her vocals are husky, sexy and stronger than many would have expected. The lyrics, without getting too gossip raggy about it, do strike a particular chord given her romantic history. Ear-snagging lines include "Now everyday love ain't no picnic" and "Knowing too much can get you hurt", but the song's message is actually very positive. "We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love," she sings on the chorus, "If it's worth having, it's worth fighting for."
Needless to say, she's got a lot still to do, but 'Fight For This Love' gets Cheryl Cole's solo career off to a cracking start. Roll on the video, the album and of course the vitally important X Factor performance.

Great vocal? Got to be kidding. This is uber processed and really shows her up to be a decidely average vocalist. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Bad, Bad song to begin with. Maybe next time. Hopefully.

Not great for a debut single. In comparison to Alexandra Burke and Leona Lewis her voice is quite weak. There are so many great female singers out there at the moment, the competition is tough. I'm sure her first album will sell well, although I don't think there will be many more to follow.

crap. but it was still get to number one because of who she is, and because all pop music makes the charts nowadays. you dont need to have talent, which she doesnt. i wish people would actually buy decent music i.e indie

I thought her first single would be a lot better. I love cheryl but this single is not good. it will still do well because it is her but is doesn't really derserve to. if it was anyone else singing this song it would bomb. this won't crack america for her thats for sure.

Personally I am not a fan of this song, it’s a bit to fake and verging on poppy for my liking, but its blatant that regardless of how out of tune the song is, it will definitely do well - even though it don’t deserve to be! All these Cheryl fans fail to realise that she just isn’t the best singer; it seems they find it hard to tell the truth! She’s only made it because of Simon…And now she’s known as this “national treasure” who supposedly cant seem to do no wrong these days…Simon just wants to make her big, but she has no talent…all she has is looks…and all this how she needs to leave Ashley as she deserves better is also very pathetic, she knows what he’s like and she’s hardly a saint herself, remember the toilet racist incident? Ashley is human too, people make mistakes, so why should we all sympathise with her? Its not about where shes from who shes dated, what charitable work she’s done, its about whether she can sing or not! Why should she would like her song because its “Cheryl” and because she cries on the X factor, its funny because most of the time its like she’s forcing herself to cry, and cries even more for those acts who are liked by the public but miss out, she knows damn well this will score her more brownie points…its all too transparent…to sum it up I don’t think she deserves to crack it to America which is her aim and I think its crazy how ppl are licking her backside next level because she’s on every magazine!

Claire. God. Just get over yourself. Everyone on earth is better than you! Let's face it. With a shallow attitude like that. There are far better role models than Cheryl Cole. Her talent is based on her looks. That's the only reason why she was chosen for GA and The X-Factor. She didn't earn her talent. She can't sing that. Why use the Auto-tune in the garbage of a song? She's only gotten where she is today based totally on her looks. NOT HER SINGING VOICE!! That's what people respect about others with REAL talent. Are you that childish that you cannot see that? If you inspire to be like her - I pity your entire existence. You are tone deaf. You are shallow. What has background got to do with anything? No-one even mentioned it. Other people have come from different even worse backgrounds and made something of their lives. So what? Just shut up and grow up!! I like cheryl; but the more I hear 'Fight for this Love' the more Out of Tune it sounds. The track has been badly auto-tuned. Cheryl sounds not dissimilar to a chipmunk. I got a feeling the song was rushed out out of the studio before any finishing touches were put in place. I never thought this when I first heard the song though- but; the more I do hear it the more out of tune it sounds!
