Another gobsmacking Cheryl Cole update

Love ain't no walk in the park perhaps, but bagging a No.1 with your debut solo single is beginning to look like one.

  • Brace yourselves... sales of 'Fight For This Love' have now exceeded 230,000.

  • 'Bad Boys' and 'Oopsy Daisy' are way behind of course, while 'Million Dollar Bill' is holding on to its top five place.

  • 'I Got Soul' by Young Soul Rebels is on the slide but it's still inside the top ten.

  • The Peas' 'Meet Me Halfway' continues to climb - it's now a couple of places outside the top ten.

  • Alphabeat's 'The Spell' is right at the edge of the top 20, while Calvin Harris's 'Flashback' is right at the edge of the top 30.

  • Over on the albums chart, it's still a Burkey - Bublé - Whitters top three. Paloma Faith's still on course to crack the top ten, while Mr Hudson's in the top 20.

  • Prediction time: how many copies do we think the Cheryl album will sell next week?

i personally love the song no it aint greate but it's catchy.i think some people are being pritty harsh she can sing she ain't got a big voice but still peple are going on like she can't even hit a note when she can. i recommend you listen to her new album some rearly good songs put it this way it wasn't what i was exspecting. you also need to listen to the b side of fight for this love it's called didn't i it's a tune, cheryl may not be an outstanding singer but shes a performer.i find it very boring when artist just stand in a spot a belt out a song

Cheryl cole sucks as a performer, and if she was a contestant on 2009 Xfactor, would of been shown the door long ago, let us not forget that she is a racist thug, who probarly has a very inflated ego of herself, fetching a solo record out to compete with Alex Burke, is plain jealousy, hope after this her solo career is short lived, she is nothing more than a talentless money grabbing commercial *****

She will only get to number one because of who she is. The single charts isnt based on music anymore, and is just made up of pop. Rock bands cant do well anymore, and deserve to be ontop of this rubbish anyday. As for Cheryl's debut, it is truly awful, and is incredibly weak vocally. Why go solo, she has the worst voice out of Girls Aloud. People need to see sense.

Hillarious when people said that she's not talented. Ok you lot vote for her on pop star: the rivals. She can dance very well.. okkk that's talent. Not anyone can dance. She can sing (not as well as mariah but even Mariah couldn't do Mariah anymore). She's poised and a great TV personality. Not anyone can look and behave that genuine on telly... Can anyone of you do it? No I bet no. So that's talent. Come on guys. Look at Gaga, she's talent and she uses gimmicks to sell records and you will be like wow. Cheryl makes X Factor works so well. The highest rating so far when she performed last weekend. The telly rating exceeded it's past record. That's talent! Use whatever you've got and run with it. Then again jelaousy is such a bad thing hehe

The chart is based on weekly sale , not total sale! Cole's first week sale exceeded most people in her first week! Kudos to her. I love the song! And Cheryl is such a great performer.. Madonna everyone... pitch perfect vocals no, a performer YES!!!! Well done!

I detest Cheryl Cole and Fight For This Love. Awful record, which wont sell more than 75K copies next week. Let her have her snip of fame solo in the charts, by the time christmas comes we will all be argueing over the X Factor winner and their debut song. Hope Down or Party in the USA get to #1 / #2 next week. Awesome tunes :)

im not being a moaning mini here, but x factor is DESTROYING the charts, cheryl would not be getting these ridiculously high first week sales if it wasnt for x factor, if she beats 'pokerface' as the best selling song of the year, then i really will have lost all faith in the music buying public. i think gaga better get herself on the x factor pronto!

Everyone is so miserable on this forum. I'd like to say congratulations to Cheryl. It's a good debut: shame people on here are so downbeat about our homegrown talent and cannot be happy for someone's success.

Happy for Cheryl although I can see this falling fast. The album will probably be number 1 but I doubt it will have over 100k sales in its first week. I hope Down charts highly next week, it is a really good song.
Phil London, on October 23rd, 2009
I am not even sure why she is getting a No 1 with such a poor song, she has sold 230,000 but Alex has sold at least 270,000 of Badboys-why is Cheryl going to be No 1.It is not mean what she did to Alex that is her character competitive.
Doug, Aberdeen, on October 23rd, 2009
am i the only one that thinks that this is quite a poor debut single with a chorus that sounds like another song.especially from someone who has been in the music business for over five years with all the coaching ect.

While I actually like this song, for it to topple Alex after only being 1 week at the top is terrible! As her X Factor mentor it would have been more gracious for Cheryls record company to release her work a few weeks after and give Alex the glory that she rightly deserves after all her hard work. Bad Boys is a much more befitting #1 hit! Both records could have done better sales pottentially by reducing the 'leading ladies' that would then be on the market at one given time. Just a thought anyhow.

Congrats to Cheryl for getting the No.1, but it just goes to show how ridiculously overblown the whole X-Factor thing has got. She posting phenomenal sales but there's no way such a mediocre track would be doing so well without the backing of the show. Had Simon Cowell picked say Kimberley from Girls Aloud to be his pet project then it would be a gobsmacking Kimberley whatever update.

looks like she will beat Lady Ga Ga. Any predictions for next week's single chart, where really only Miley Cyrus is releasing a new hit.
    JB51, United States., on October 23rd, 2009
It looks like Jay Sean is a high contender for next week's mid-weeks, that he is hoping to top both sides of the Atlantic and knock Cheryl off the top spot, but from now this week's contender is Cheryl Cole's 'Fight for This Love' is the fastest-selling song of the year so far, the second after Alexandra Burke's 'Bad Boys'. Jay Sean will have to fight competition against Cheryl Cole, Miley Cyrus, and Cobra Starship in the top five in next week's mid-weeks, but it will be Lil Wayne's first chart-topper.

Go Cheryl ! love the song & love the album <3 x
Andrew, Uk, on October 23rd, 2009
Something about her does tend to grate. i hope the toilet attendant she punched does one of those come back tracks - 'we had a fight, fight, fight in a club'
Andy, Enfield, on October 23rd, 2009
I think fight for this love is terrible, but if someone uploads the album onto youtube or something i'll give it a go. Maybe cheryl has better songs on the album... Very happy for whitney, this comeback has been a long time coming and she deserves it.
    One&Only X, on October 23rd, 2009
Oh great heavens. I hope Lady Gaga beats her next week. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!
    Kylie's Sparkly Tiarra, on October 23rd, 2009
It's a travesty that someone so talentless should have a hit on the back of a popular TV show
