When Lady GaGa met Beyoncé

Published Friday, Nov 13 2009, 12:02 GMT | By Nick Levine | 10 comments
Stop working, forget about making one last coffee before lunch and switch off 'Bad Romance'! 'Telephone', the pant-strainingly exciting collaboration between Lady GaGa and Beyoncé from The Fame Monster, has popped up online.

Produced by Rodney Jerkins, it's a proper club pumper featuring no fewer than three bits that sound like choruses. Lyrically, it's all about GaGa and Bouncy not wanting to be titting about with their mobiles while they're on a night out. The best couplet? "Just a second, it's my favourite song they're gonna play / And I cannot text you with a drink in my hand, eh?" Quite frankly GaGa, we couldn't have said it better ourselves.

It's worth noting that 'Telephone' is very much a GaGa track that features Beyoncé as opposed to a full-on duet, but Ma Carter's cameo - pretty much in the middle of the track - definitely makes it more special. "Boy, the way you blowin' up my phone won't make me leave no faster," she warns, very much in Sasha Fierce mode.

Anyway, that's enough wittering on from us, it's time for you to make your way over to You(Tube) Know Where for a listen!

What do you think of 'Telephone'? Does it live up to your expectations? Use the space below to have your say.

heck yeah it didnt live up to my expectation. the song was like very average. i was obsessing like mad for the telephone song to be out. and to my surprise, theres nothing very exciting to the song except that "lady gaga and beyonce collaborated". and thats it. the chorus is not that catchy and addictive as gaga's previous songs have been like with poker face, bad romance, just dance, etc. but, then again. maybe it could've been just me. i should play it back a couple more times just to see whether it could grow on me. haha :)

Oh no, what is this? After the rush of hearing the "new" GaGa on Dance in the Dark, Alejandro and Bad Romance, it sounds like she has taken a step backwards again with this track. This could easily be an album track from The Fame which isn't a bad thing but it just doesn't seem to fit with the "new" GaGa that we have heard. This track just feels too generic..it even has her soft vocals back again so it doesn't sit well with the other new tracks. No doubt this will be huge because of the star power alone of having two divas joining forces but Dance in the Dark really deserves to be the next single.

great pop song. don't feel it's on par with the depth and darker sound of her other 'Monster' songs though. it's so much better than 'Video Phone', probably down to the fact GaGa wrote it with collaboration in mind (which makes it work) rather than 'VP' using GaGa's success to try and make it single worthy.

WOW. This song is proper STONKING!! Love it. With this, Dancer In The Dark, Alejandro and of course Bad Romance, The Fame Monster looks set to even top the heights of The Fame. Can't bloomin' wait!!

I quite like the song. It was originally offered to Britney Spears for 'Circus' and then Gaga asked her to do the collaboration instead of Beyonce but she turned it down. Now that would have been interesting.

Love it! That's 4 out of 8 tracks on Fame Monster that I've heard and I love. Each one is brilliant in their own way. If anything, so far Bad Romance is my least favourite, although THAT video still brings it up to a 9.5. This is quite a stomper (even if I hate phone sounds being used in songs) and Beyonce certainly adds to it. Dance in the Dark is fab, but Alejandro is, for me, the best one so far. Incredibly catchy chorus!
